What it's about.

Arianna Cruz has spent her life surviving.
Born into chaos, shaped by trauma, and haunted by demons she never asked for, Ari's world is one of shadows—until she builds a fragile version of peace: a stable job, three beautiful children, and a fiancé who offers safety, if not passion. But even on her best days, the ghosts of her past are never far behind.
Then comes Elías Rivera.
Mysterious. Dangerous. Magnetic.
One encounter with him threatens to ignite every part of her she’s buried—her fire, her desire, her rage. As secrets unfold and old enemies resurface, Ari finds herself spiraling into a world where pain and pleasure blur… and survival isn’t enough anymore.
When a chilling message forces Ari to confront the monster from her past, she does more than fight back—she takes control. With Elías by her side, the lines between vengeance and intimacy burn away, leaving behind only truth, heat, and reckoning.
But when you're born from the ashes, how do you know which fire will save you—and which one will destroy everything you've built?
Ashes of Her is the first in a gripping series that explores the raw beauty of survival, the seduction of power, and a love story forged in darkness.

My Review

Ari is a strong woman that has been through hell and still comes out on top. She is triggered and she is a fierce mother. She is a wild lover that knows what she wants and isn't afraid to see where things go with her choices. She is split between 2 lovers. She shoots straight from the hip. While I love this book so much. By the end of it I kinda want to hate Ari. But at the same time I have to give her credit for always doing what she sees as right for her.  I can step into her shoes and understand how sometimes one can dissasociate when you have alot on your mind. Sometimes its a smell or sound that takes you back.

The sexual scenes in this book is not deep or smutty. I find it very classy and more implied then detailed. So that makes this book easier for older teen readers. Not explicit to where I would recommend it to only adults.  This book is raw and real and pulls you in with every chapter.

As a mom that has also been through my share of hell I can completely relate to her. I want to just hold her and be like we do heal. But in our own ways and not in a fast manner. I cannot wait to read more books from Kayla.

Things I think about often.

So I think about a lot of things lately.  I look at how this world is changing. I look at how our government is trying to pull our rights and toss them aside. I find it sad that a country that is supposed to be free gets treated so badly. Womens rights are trampled and we are supposed to sit here and be like OH well.  I look at the rights of the LGBTQIA+ being torn asunder as well.  I do not understand why anyone should feel they can govern another person based on their personal or sexual preferences. What does that have anything to do with the individuals that are not in that relationship? What we do behind closed doors is no ones business.  If it doesn't affect us personally who are we do get involved in that? Be a good human. Is that not what we should strive to be?

Healthcare is a joke anymore. We need good people that care about others as our drs. Not all are bad but in my experience, I am seeing more and more where we get tossed in one box based on our looks and not on how we feel and things we are doing to better our health. Not to mention that its backwards where it comes to necessary medicines. For instance as a diabetic that needs insulin, I can not get it without jumping thru hoops out here in the USA.  In other countries it would be a no brainer that this medicine is lifesaving and should be available with no issues.  But in my country they offer free resources for people in substance recovery. Free meds to stop them from using. Free AA classes. But lifesaving meds for those that need them costs out the rear end and people die from not being able to afford these meds.

I look at our economy. We have a national minimum wage of 7 dollar and change an hour. BUT to get an apartment you need 3x what it costs to rent it. So if you are only getting the bare minimum you literally cannot afford to live alone.  I watch the rich get richer and the rest of the country falling into flames.  Jobs are scarce and then when they are in a field you want to work in the pay is junk or they want higher degrees but the pay doesnt even reflect the degrees that one carries. I myself have a Bachelors. It has gotten me nowhere except working for myself.  Jobs in my field are needed but the pay is not right for what you need to be able to survive out here.

I recently saw how veterans are being treated. These men and women are our brothers and sisters in arms. They paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. We have lost so many great people that went out of their way to protect our country. Some lost their lives. Some come back changed. Even so they are still people. They are human. They are me and you. Do we not all bleed the same?  So why do we treat others so badly. I just cannot wrap my head around all the hatred in our country. Skin color, background, religions...so what...they can be who they want to be and let us be us as well. We are still humans. BE A GOOD HUMAN.  I honestly do not care if I lose people over this.  I do not care who you vote for or who you are affiliated with.  I just want people to treat people as people. Not 2nd rate citizens for whatever bias they carry for them.

This country was built on immigrants.  The only people in this country that are not immigrants are those people that are NATIVE to the americas. They were here first before anyone colonized our country. Yet they get the most persecution. And I see how our administration is trying to toss aside people to kick them out of the USA based on the fact they look a certain way or sound a certain way. That does not give anyone the right to hurt them. If they got here and didnt do it right...maybe help them get the correct paperwork and give them a shot to be a beneficial part of this country instead of making it look like we are all animals that dont care about the general public.

Anyhow I am off my soapbox now. I wish you all the best. Please leave me a comment on what you think about this post.

So let's start with Maxfactor.  The liquid liner has a very awesome tip that makes using it so much easier then other brands I have tried.  I tested it and it lasted 2 days before i finally decided to take it off.  The mascara was amazing. one coat and no clumps, great deep black color and no spider looking lashes. I was very pleasantly surprised. Both of these will be my new daily use.
