Fear of Intimacy and the Tango Cure - Book review

Before I get started on this review I must tell you, I am still reeling from this book.  While it is not a very long book, it is filled with passion and heart that you don't often get and it transports you to the dance floor right along with the author as he expresses not just the "dos and don'ts" of Tango but also the pain that comes with such a dance and the respect and trust as well as rules that go along with it.

This book was far from boring.  I started reading and instantly wanted to keep going deeper into the book. It brings one to the shoulder of the author as he explains how he overcame being homophobic, learned to respect a woman, how to listen to your partner without her ever saying a word, how he learned the different styles of tango and his preferences and, how its not such a dance where you can just know a step but one in which you must be in sync with your partner to a point you can almost feel the thoughts of them during the dance.

How rejection can bring a man to his knees and the pain that he has that can be allieviated during a set of Tandas.  How it is possible for passion to overcome a tango dancer to a point in which it can be an embarrassment, but how he was able to overcome it by his imagination on something less likable.

He explains how a man becomes an effective leader and a lady a follower for Tango and how once a person gets experienced in the dance a subtle relaxation in stance is enough to show a huge difference in the partner.

How does this make me feel?

I never thought of dance in this manner. I have danced Jazz, Tap, and Ballet, Swing and yes I have done the Tango, but never on such a serious level that I thought much about the emotions behind it.  Tango to me always seemed an angry dance.  Like the dancers are stern and skilled at the same time, but after reading Fear of Intimacy and the Tango Cure, I see now that it really is therapy. A way to lose the anger, or sadness and lonliness, a way to meet new people and learn about them no thru speech, but thru touch, unspoken vibrations that come off the opposite sex in waves that can affect not just a single person but an entire group.  It is a way to seek acceptance in the form of learning without having to drop your baggage on another person but to use your passion for something you love to take you away across the dance floor.

This book brought my attention to Tango to an entirely new level of awareness. I am still reeling. The respect and modesty that is Perri Iezzoni in this dance is very captivating to read about.  I wish men understood what he does in regards to dance.

I have been to many places, mostly to sing but I enjoy dancing and one thing I can not stand is a strange man gawking at me or dancing up against me when I have no idea where he came from, or trying to press against me.  That is so often what is seen now a days on dance floors. In this respect, I wish more clubs would use the Tango rules of respect to how the dancers mingle. How they embrace, how they unspoken let the other know they wish to dance for just a little while, and all that time during the dance, feel the emotions, the passion, the anger or sadness that flow from the other person and know that this little reprieve is a way to reduce these unspoken problems and that the dancers have helped each other without ever exchanging phone numbers or anything. Completely serene, completely discreet and also relaxing.

I give this book a 5/5.
I HIGHLY recommend this book to read and share. It will literally give the reader a new respect for the art of Tango.

I am so very blessed to have been given a chance to review this book. It blew me away!

Thank you so much Perri!!!!

topic 10/12/13 Items I always have on hand

Items I have on hand at all times!!!

  2. diapers
  3. business cards for Jtcreationz
  4. extra Skinny fiber (curious go to this link)
  5. extra Vitamin D3
  6. lip balm
  7. Small makeup bag
  8. a book
  9. my tablet
  10. my phone
  11. my wallet
  12. purse in car with most of the items above so i dont have to drag them around.
Hehe yeah im boring LOL

Topic - The need to vent some days LOL

Today has been one that makes me want to write in detail how frustrated I truley am at the point. BUT, I will spare you that and tell you about what i was doing today instead.

I reformatted my computer since i hadnt done it in 3 years and low and behold no more jacked up posting, no more lagging.  I am finally able to get things done at the same pace i can work at and not have to wait on the computer to catch up. I am trying to get more orders finished and mailed out, I am trying to get posts up and contests up and more topics caught up, but as I am doing that, I am also reading to finish reviews, and helping others get things done on thier pages on facebook, working on graphics and pictures, trying not to forget what else needs to be done here like laundry, and dishes, and got dinner made. Skipped church cause i have WAY to much to get caught up on.  Ever have days like that where you want to just go to bed and forget it all?

Today has been like that.  Took a walk today and realized that some people truley don't understand how they hurt the other people around them, they blindly follow the path thier signifigant other blazes for them. They dont care that the person went behind thier back to hurt another person or how she has been affected by the rediculous actions of this person.  I see every day the hurt in this persons face and the distress because someone goes thru so much to make thier life miserable and then tells thier signifigant other how shes breaking ties with them. Its completely backwards and horrible.

I am taking a step back in the next month or so from all the things i am doing to get a break and to get it organized where I have some ME time.  I love blogging and reviewing, I love the other stuff I do as well, but am tired of being shortchanged when it comes to people forgetting I have 2 hands.  I have done a lot of free work for people to help them but when I need help it is not there.  This isnt directed at anyone in particular, but I wish people would pay it forward.  This is my need to vent. So here ya go.

On the flip side I have gotten a lot of work done, I helped a friend set her candle site up and that was fun and interesting because now I know how to use a very useful platform that will help me later on when I make JTCreationz a store online instead of just a Facebook page.  I helped a fellow designer get her page a business ID finally, and got some displays drawn up, created, painted and almost finished this week for my showcase with Raw in DEC. Why should i rush? I need as much backup items to show as well as I need to keep up with my orders that still need to be mailed out.  So I have alot to do and not alot of time to do it all in.  But anyhow that was my day so far.

Here is a snippet of the review:
I was recently given the opportunity to sample Good Boy Organics Organicasaurus Baked Snacks, and they were a HUGE hit in my house. I swear we went through four bags of these with the kids in a matter of two days. They were so good that even the hubs and I couldn’t resist sharing a bag to ourselves (secretly of course!).

A little bit about the Organicasaurus snacks:
Has really good, really healthy food ever been this fun? Every puffed-up prehistoric mouthful of this one-of-a-kind snack is chock full of real cheddar cheese and other organic ingredients, and is non-GMO and gluten-free. In fact, it’s the only cheese corn puff on the market that can say it’s USDA Organic. And you thought the combo of tasty and healthy was extinct.

Topic 10-9-13 What I wish i could be great at.

What I wish I could be great at.....

  1. electrical work
  2. wireweaving like a pro
  3. focusing more on one thing at a time.
  4. being patient
I have lot's of things I am good at, but those 4 take the cake.  I have a hard time being patient because my brain runs a mile a minute so I have a hard time focusing. Even when I am doing my Jewelry, i stop and then go back to something else like dishes or cleaning or laundry. You think YAY you can multitask.....No, I get kinda OCD if I see something then it bothers me and it gets worse if I leave it undone. So even when I have something I have to finish....I have to stop and get something else done before it drives me nuts. Is anyone else like that?

Topic 10-11-13 - Favorite Quotes

  1. Never chase after a rainbow that has no end.
  2. Set goals that you can achieve and then reach farther.
  3. Compete against yourself, then you can hold yourself accountable for mistakes and any failures.
  4. Nothing is Impossible unless you don't try
  5. Let he who has no sin be the first to cast the first stone.
These are a few of them. I can think of lots more, but they have more meaning for me then for most of you all :)

Topic - 10-10-13 People who have influenced me throughout my life.

People who have influenced me throughout my life.

Let's see here.  My mother taught me to always try no matter what even if I felt like I couldn't do it.
Because of issues in my life, I would say that my uncle influenced me indirectly due to his own issues.  I won't go into detail but seeing his struggles as I grew up and seeing how his life turned out, made me want to make sure I wouldn't have my children behaving the way others have treated him.  People like my best friend since I was super young Sasha, and her mom and family that have stuck by me even though we havent seen each other in about 9 years now, but still talk remind me that family is the people that you hold dear to you even if they aren't always right there next to you. They are definately family but live very far away, and every picture and talk makes me so happy they have been there for me and I always know they are a phonecall away.

People I have watched that struggle to work, or support kids and put them first before themselves show a true appreciation for little things.  It gives me strength to know that anything is possible if you believe it.  I watch people like my friend Jeannie, that will gather items for people that are homeless or older people in the nursing homes to make thier lives a little easier.  Or her husband Gary that has helped me when I was really broke with my vehicle issues.  They make me have hope that there are still people in this world that actually care about others and not just out to make a quick buck. Believe me all these people apprecate what you do! I know I do.

I look at our government heads and I get really sad to see that our country is being ran as if the people don't matter that much. They want to keep taking from the lower class and keep paying off the richer people.  Spend as if where the money goes has no limit.  It saddens me but I hope for a change where things start to come out of the resession and we rely less on the government for things since they show no care for what they have done to so many during this shutdown.  But I alone can't make a change and with as many people fighting one another or blaming others over race or sexual preference, I dont see good changes being made until we all learn to accept people for what they are and thats it. People. Same blood color no matter the skin color, and all of us are a little weird in our own ways. So why pinpoint it. There is no "normal".

Why are my opinions so off the charts? Its because i have been influenced by the many races, the many heritages of the people in my life. Whether they are family or friends or even people that I have met online from across the world, I find we all seek one commonground. We want friends that are interested in us, or things we do and we reach out no matter what the case is.

Hope I haven't bored you but this kinda explains me a bit in a nutshell too.

JTCreationz - Idea

So everyone I am thinking of beginning a series of How To vids on making jewelry and different techniques.  Would anyone be interested in that? I would host them on youtube.

I would love some feedback. Here are some of the items I would be showing how to make....

Wire wrapped items, how to mount stones in fancy wire, how to add decoration to beads and gemstones for awesome pendants.  How to make rings in various styles.

These are all my own creations. To see more please follow me on Facebook.

With our ever-changing world and commerce, it is more important than ever to speak more than one language.  The earlier we start a second (or maybe third?) language, the easier it is to grasp, so many people recommend starting with children from birth with hearing two languages to improve the integration of the language and over all comprehension.  Krista over at Savory Savings speaks Spanish fluently, while her husband does not know a perro from pero (dog from “but” – the conjunction people, not the other one!) She shared her thoughts on the Little Pim Language Learning DVD series over on her site and you can see how this DVD series, aimed at the 0-6 crowd can help build vocabulary in both languages and promote language confidence!  By immersing children in language during entertainment, they hardly notice they are learning and suddenly are using phrases in other languages!
Little Pim is currently available in the following languages:
  • Little_Pim_SpanishSpanish
  • French
  • Chinese
  • Italian
  • German

What are healthier choices; what might be a good type of workout; What foods are best to eat for what you aim to achieve in your weightloss goals?  These are just some of the questions that are answered in this book.

Card.com Personalized Debit card Review!

https://www.card.com/

What is Card.com?
A. Just one of the easiest ways to manage money I have come across!
ABOUT THE PRODUCT:

This is what Card.com Has to say about their product!

This is a debit card, like the one from your bank, and you can use it EVERYWHERE Visa is accepted -- except it's way cooler and cuter than your crumby old bank card.

  • Free direct deposit

This card is not a gift card, so you can’t give or receive the card as a gift - It's better than a gift card because you don't just use it once and toss it, but instead get to replace your boring bank-issued debit card and show it off over and over.

First and forest I am in LOVE with this card.  Why you might ask? Let's see, I love the design!  No thats not it, I can reload from paypal? Noooooooo, Oh I can add from my bank acct? Nope even that is not the best thing about this card. Let me spell it out to you!

What a fun way to get kids to eat healthier foods? Check this out today and get your entries in for a chance to win!
Young kids are notoriously difficult to get to eat!  How many times have you negotiated with your kiddos to eat “just one more bite” or have struggled to come up with more ideas to get them to eat?  Some have found that fun shaped food helps their kids eat better and more, but that can be tedious and difficult – multiply that difficulty if you have more than one kiddo.  Krista over at Savory Savings reviewed Fun Bites food cutters and is excited to show you this fun and easy way to cut food into fun shapes and sizes to encourage small kids to eat their food.
When food is fun – everyone is more likely to enjoy it!  These BPA-free and easy to clean food cutters make a great addition to your kitchen and would make a great gift for anyone with small kids.  Making a kitchen-themed gift basket for your culinary whiz friend?  Why not add a Fun Bites food cutter to the mix for a cheeky and interesting way to dress up the basket?
You can enter to win a Fun Bites food cutter with this giveaway!  The giveaway is part of The Pitch List Holiday Gift Guide!  It will run from October 15, 2013 through November 30, 2013.  This giveaway is open to US residents only, ages 18 and older.

Family game nights are a fun and engaging way to promote family bonding and sneak in some learning opportunities.  Krista over at Savory Savings recently had the chance to review Go Ape, a fun “go fish” card game alternative from Patch Products.  This game that encourages small children to mimic the actions on the cards to “ask” for pairs from other players.  This game is an affordable, non-tech way to encourage families to spend time together without sitting in front of a television or spending extra money.  It is lighthearted and your little ones will get a kick out of watching you scratch your head or dance around like a monkey to ask for cards.  And you will love watching them learn to make matches and count the number of cards to win!
This card game will make a great addition to your family game night or an excellent gift for the 3 to 7 year olds in your life!
You can enter to win Go Apes Kids Card Game with this giveaway!  The giveaway is part of The Pitch List Holiday Gift Guide!  It will run from October 15, 2013 through November 30, 2013.  This giveaway is open to US residents only, ages 18 and older.

Book Review - My Not So Ordinary Life - Christine Rice

Disclaimer - The Joly Life blog recieved an E-book copy of this to review. Regardless, the opinions expressed below are 100% honest and my true feelings about the book below.

My Not So Ordinary Life talks about the life of the author from early on  until age 28.  I read this book fairly quickly as it goes thru her life struggles and how she overcame obstacle after obstacle.  This includes drug use, and partying, living with friends and in her car, defying authority, and so much more. She did all this while learning from her life experiences and changing her life for the better.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, highly! I rate it 5/5

Would I want to read more? Absolutely!  I would love to see this book in more detail because while I love the book, I would have loved more details about things she went thru. I know just from this book there is more to be read in the future, so it left me wanting more.

If you are looking for a quick read...this is the book for you.  While its not drawn out like most autobiographies are, it definately gets to the point quickly and moves right along in her memories.  This book has hurt, love struggles, emotional demons, addiction issues, a child dealing with divorce and her personal reactions to it, the honest raw feeling a person feels when they do not fit in anywhere and how they could deal with it. She talks of her first love, her addiction, her classes, and meeting the man of her dreams and how she went about getting him. To some this will hit home, to others they may not understand, but in the end they will see that she took bad situations and thru it all struggled to make it right for herself. She should be proud of what she accomplished and I applaud her for writing about it. It is hard for others to understand how people deal with things differently when they, themselves are not in that same situation.
